It is failure of batchjob,one of the reason may be enough resources not available for running the process.
Let me explain you the process in a very laymen terms.Basis team sets mainly 3 kinds of workprocess.
1.Dialog --> We can run the transactions in foreground(on screen ) and extract the output directly.
users prefer to keep the Work process in foreground as they can extract the output directly.But the problem related is regarding the resource utilization.As Cpu utilization will be high during this time.For this Basis team will configure time limits.Once the reports more than the time limits it will result in runtime errors.
2.Background -->Minimal resource are required for this.But direct output wont be displayed.We have to go to Sm37 and extract the output from spool.Long running background jobs will also result in job failures as Cpu utilization exceeds too much.
